(Extended) Call for Papers on Post-COVID-19 Challenges and Regional Integration in Asia

Conference date

31 Aug 2021

COVID-19 shocks to labor flows, trade and investment, travel and tourism, and supply chains have contributed to the global growth slowdown, worsening health and nutrition, and a rebound in poverty, threatening the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. As Asian countries struggle with the economic impacts of COVID-19, they have to look for new opportunities to strengthen regional institutions, improve regional infrastructure and connectivity, advance trade policy, and develop cross-border solutions to shared challenges.

The Asian Development Bank Institute, ASEAN-India Centre at RIS, and Chulalongkorn University’s ASEAN Study Center are seeking original, unpublished papers examining post-COVID-19 challenges to regional integration and development in Asia, to be featured in a related workshop and considered for publication in a special issue of the Journal of Asian Economic Integration. Paper submissions may address policy issues at a country or regional level and should combine empirical research with distinct policy messages. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

- Trade and investment
- Multilateral trade relations
- Infrastructure
- Public health
- Institutions and governance
- Supply chains
- Sustainability and economic development
- Financial integration

Policy makers, scholars, economic commentators, and private sector representatives are all highly encouraged to submit papers.

Submission Procedure
