Academy of Finance 2022 Conference
Conference Profile
The Academy of Finance’s 35th Annual Meeting will be held March 23-25, 2021, at the fabulous Palmer
House in Chicago, Illinois. We welcome all types of financial research, case studies, and panels as
well as student research presentations. We also accept applications for the Academy’s Outstanding
Teaching Award, and we recognize best papers with various Best in Track Awards. Over time we have
had presentations by professionals from all 50 states as well as 22 different countries.
The Academy meets simultaneously with 11 other disciplinary groups in business under the
administrative banner of MBAA International (this will be MBAA’s 58th Annual Meeting). MBAA
provides the centralized administrative functions of the conference such as centralized
registration, a consolidated program book, providing audio visual equipment, and arranging nightly entertainment. The Academy of Finance is responsible for processing paper submissions and building its own conference program.

MBAA itself also offers an Interactive Teaching Poster session which you enter by making your
submission via the Academy just like a regular paper submission. MBAA is particularly well aligned
with the needs and interests of faculty from institutions that are committed to a balanced emphasis
on both teaching and scholarship.

During the submission process to the conference, authors have the option of submitting their paper for dual-submission for JFI for a potential journal publication. The purpose of this dual
submission process is to speed the review process for JFI.

To be considered for this dual-submission, simply check the dual submission box when you submit the paper, and the paper will be forwarded to the journal editor. JFI’s review process will run
independently from that of the conference peer-review process. Please review JFI’s requirements at

Panels or Special Sessions
The Academy encourages the creation of panels or special sessions. In the past, scholars have
hosted a variety of panels, including panels on:
• AACSB accreditation
• Impact of Technology on Finance
• Counting courses toward the CFP designation

Panels we would like to see this year include how to best manage a campus Finance Club, a Meet the Journal Editors panel, and a to set up your own outside consulting business.

Please contact the Program Chair about these or any other ideas!
