PhD position in Finance

Job Description & Qualification

The Institute of Financial Analysis at the University of Neuchâtel is opening one funded internal PhD position in finance (70%) starting from March 2022 or upon agreement. The PhD position is in relation with the SNF research project on “Measuring, Understanding, and Predicting Mutual Fund Performance Worldwide” and has an empirical focus.

Your duties
• Conduct research with the aim to earn a PhD in finance.
• Participate at academic conferences and publish your research.
• Contribute to the teaching of classes and the administration of the institute and the Master in Finance programme.

Your profile
• Master degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Accounting or a related field.
• Interest to work on the evaluation and prediction of mutual and hedge funds’ trading strategies.
• Strong quantitative skills. Interest in machine learning / textual analysis / big data is a plus.
• Profound programming skills in a statistical software package (such as R, Stata, SAS, Matlab, or Python).
• Excellent command of the English language. French language skills are a plus.
